Science and Technology for Children is a science curriculum filled with innovative hands-on activities designed to motivate students. All fifth graders participate in four kit based units experiencing the scientific method, data collection, problem solving, and group cooperation.
Food Chemistry - Students explore familiar foods, testing for starch, glucose, fats, and proteins and learning the role these nutrients play in their health.
Experiments With Plants - Students design experiments with Wisconsin Fast Plants, learning to control a variable and observing the stages in the life cylce of a plant.
Microworlds - Students learn to make detailed observations using simple magnifiers and more complex microscopes.
Motion and Design - Students explore various ways to design a K nex vehicle to test the effects of friction, force and wind speed on distance and speed.
