Eighth grade science continues to stress developing organizational skills, study skills and self-reflection through journaling. This is a crucial time as students are preparing for the transition to high school.
Life Science and the chemistry of matter are the focus of eighth grade science. Topics that are covered are science careers, the classification of trees and insects, the cell and genetics, ecosystems and owl pellets, types of matter, chemical and physical change, the atom and the periodic table. Students often work in cooperative groups to complete projects and discuss problem-solving activities. Many hands-on activities are included throughout the year.
