The Newspaper Club produces five copies of our school newspaper, the Giant Pride, every year. Students produce a Halloween edition, a Christmas edition, as well as a Valentine's Day edition, an April Fool's Day edition, and a final paper celebrating the last day of school. The Newspaper Club is open to all Ingersoll students in grades 5 through 8. The eighth graders have the majority of the responsibility of the paper as they are the editors of the Giant Pride. At the beginning of each school year, interested students are asked to complete an application and submit it to their TAP teachers. The club sponsors, Mrs. DeRenzy and Mrs. Whittington, then hold meetings with students to advise them of their assignments as reporters. Our staff also has its own artist, picture page editor, and Toodles or the "Dear Abby" of the middle school. To encourage students to turn in their articles at the deadline, we will hold a special incentive for them this year. Any student who has turned in four articles by April 1st can go on the field trip to the Journal Star some time in April. During this field trip, students will have a chance to see how a large newspaper operates.
