Steven R. Nagel Distinguished Student Award

The Steven R. Nagel Distinguished Student Award is named after Steven Nagel, a native of Canton and a mission specialist for NASA. Most notably, Steven Nagel is remembered as being the 100th astronaut in space with his space ship Discovery flight on June 17, 1985. As a student of Canton Union School District, Mr. Nagel is also remembered as being an excellent student who participated in numerous school activities from elementary school through high school.

The personal qualities represented by the Steven R. Nagel Distinguished Student Award are leadership, dependability, self-discipline, achievement, a positive attitude, respect for others, and service to school and community. Students whould also display the characteristics of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility.
