Ingersoll Middle School Nova V





Members of the Nova V Team include Mrs. Parsons, Mrs. Plumer, Mrs. DeRenzy, Mrs. DeLost, Mrs. Jenkins, and Ms. Trone

We came up with the name Nova V because the students coming into fifth grade are new stars that will grow brighter with knowledge. The V stands for fifth grade and the five Nova teachers. During the year we plan two interdisciplinary units. The first unit's theme is decision making correlating with the novel "On My Honor" by Marion Bauer. The second unit's theme is conflict resolution correlating with the novel "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry. To enhance cooperation and team spirit, the entire Nova Team participates in a Christmas play called "The Greatest Christmas Card." Community Service is a part of the middle school philosophy. The Nova Team is involved with students from the Renaissance Care Center. Each TAP class visits twice a year and builds a strong friendship. Other activities include field trips, Oregon Trail simulation, Wacky Olympics, and special holiday activities.
