Canton Union School District #66 is holding its monthly School Board Meeting on Monday July 19th at 7:00 p.m. at 20 West Walnut Street. At the meeting the board will give guidance to administration for creating COVID mitigation policies for the 2021-22 school year. Tad DeRenzy, Superintendent, will recommend to the board that the district follow guidance released by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education. In alignment with the guidance Superintendent DeRenzy will recommend that masks are recommended for all unvaccinated individuals in school, but masks not be required. Also, in alignment with the guidance Superintendent DeRenzy will recommend that all students and staff on school busses wear masks. Community members who would like to address the board at the meeting will be allowed to do so. In accordance with the Disaster Proclamation issued by Governor Pritzker in person meetings that follow the Open Meetings Act are limited to 10 people. Due to his requirement two community members will be able to be in the meeting at one time. Other community members waiting to speak will wait outside and enter the meeting when it is their time to speak.
